Isometric Island

A dreamy isometric island, inspired by a walk through town one Spring day. The idea for the style was a cosy fairy-like garden with yellow lights. Somewhere you'd like to rest from the hustle and bustle of work.

This was the largest piece I've undertook in Illustrator but I really enjoyed slowly building up the world line by line. I then animated it in After Effects with subtle but continuous movements that bring the illustration to life and yet maintain an atmosphere gentle enough that one could be lulled to sleep.

The background music is an excerpt from the beginning of Liebestraum No. 3 by Liszt played on a music box. I wanted to evoke the feeling as well as nostalgia of slowly falling asleep as a child as your parent reads a bedtime story.
